Precision gauging for medical device components.
Medical device components are frequently small and dimensionally demanding, where a bore, shaft or miniature thread has to fit a mating part with very little margin for error. The same limit-gauge principle used across precision engineering, a fast GO / NOT-GO decision at the tolerance boundary, applies at these smaller sizes.
Small threads and plain fits
Where a device uses a metric thread, thread plug and ring gauges to DIN ISO 1502 cover sizes from M1 upward. Plain, non-threaded fits, such as a small bore or pin diameter, are checked with Reversible plain plug gauges from Ø0.5 mm, GO members in tungsten carbide and NOT-GO in steel, to IS 3455.
Why certification matters
Every gauge we supply ships with a test certificate accredited by NABL to ISO/IEC 17025, giving a traceable, auditable basis for the acceptance decision.
Specifying a gauge for a small feature
At small sizes, confirm the exact size and class on the drawing rather than relying on a nearby standard size, since the tolerance band narrows quickly. Share the thread or bore size, standard and material on our quote page and we will confirm availability.
Gauge families used for this inspection
Questions about medical devices
Which gauge families suit small medical device features?
Metric thread plug and ring gauges from M1 upward, and Reversible plain plug gauges from Ø0.5 mm.
Which standards apply?
Metric threads to DIN ISO 1502 and plain plug gauges to IS 3455.
What material are the plain plug gauges?
GO members are made in tungsten carbide for wear resistance, with NOT-GO members in steel, in the Reversible style at these smaller sizes.
Does every gauge come with a certificate?
Yes. Every gauge we supply ships with a test certificate accredited by NABL to ISO/IEC 17025.
Can you make a custom gauge for a non-standard small feature?
Yes, we build non-standard and special gauges to drawing for the exact size and feature you specify.
How do I request a quote?
Share the thread or bore size, standard or a drawing on our quote page and we will confirm the class, availability and pricing within one business day.
